TEAM HISTORY
Quarry Green F.C. (13/04/06)

Quarry Green Football Club was established in 1976 under the name of The Peacock F.C. The team changed its name to Quarry Green F.C. in 1997.

The seasons of 1997/98 and 1998/99 were, in the main, rebuilding seasons after relocating and changing our name from the Peacock.

These two seasons saw little success on the pitch but what was noticeable was the great team spirit that was building up within the team, which led to the most successful periods in our football club's long history.

In the following season of 1999/2000 we did a league and cup double whilst playing in the Kirkby and District Football League, a lot of credit must go to one of our players who actually scored 64 league and cup goals in this season, this player being Phil Hewitt.

Our next season 2000/2001 led us to a league and cup treble also whilst playing in the Kirkby and District League.

The following season of 2001/2002 our team made the decision to move up into the Liverpool Business Houses Sunday Football League. We had to start in the 5th division, where we ended up as league champions, as well as being undefeated in the league this season.

In the next season of 2002/2003 we moved up a couple of divisions to the Liverpool Business Houses 3rd division and again we became champions and were promoted to the 2nd division.

In the season 2003/2004 we were promoted from the 2nd division to the Liverpool Business Houses 1st division.

In the season 2005/2006 we copleted one of our goals by being promoted to the Liverpool Business Houses Premier division.

Would moving kids' football to a summer game help improve the development of young footballers?
Yes - better pitches mean a better chance to develop technique/skills
No - wouldn't make any real difference to development
Maybe - but I'd be worried about more injuries on firm pitches
